Hi Voxers --

You may have ended up here after reading the latest Vox Talks newsletter, seeing that daisy wrote it, and clicking over to read her recent blog post.  I've been so happy to have a compadre on the team to write and edit with since daisy joined us back in September!  She's an amazing writer and coworker and you're in very good hands with her.

I'm still here at Six Apart and still working with daisy on some Voxy stuff, but you'll also find me working with the TypePad community and posting to Everything TypePad.  You may not see my name on your Vox communications as often from now on, but I'm still around!

If you haven't met daisy yet, please stop by and read her belated introduction post and stay for her hilarious stories and great book recommendations.

It looks like 7pm is a good start time, but could we do it any earlier?  Maybe 6pm?

I'm thinking a coffee shop that also serves drinks is a good idea, and maybe even a place that serves food.  What about Clementine or Spiderhouse?  Some place with indoor and outdoor areas and ample parking -- the Mean-Eyed Cat?  Any other suggestions?

I have an especially big crush on my Vox neighborhood lately.

Firstly, there was the unveiling of the new blog banner I commissioned from Draw (a.k.a. Marc) for my TypePad blog.  Isn't it beautiful?

Then the other day Cubist Literature unveiled the redesign of his website, and clicking through it I ended up in his Etsy shop.  I really liked the mitts he knits and he was nice enough to work with me on a custom order of colors I like.  Plus he made sure to knit them extra small for my freakishly small hands.  They fit just right!
I also really loved this photo ydnar uploaded for me, but I can't figure out how to add another Vox This link into this post...

Finally, when M-----l offered up a real handwritten letter to anyone who wanted one, I jumped on it.  And he wrote me this great letter that made my day:

I wrote three posts today that will, in total, eventually be read by thousands of people (and in LJ's case, commented upon by hundreds already).  Actually I just posted them all today, I've been writing them over the past few days.

Writing to large audiences is a huge challenge which brings me great anxiety, but also a sense of accomplishment.  Sometimes when I'm done my brain feels like oatmeal.

And now I'm going to see Birds & Batteries at Hotel Utah, and take a break from the internet for at least twelve whole hours.  Good night.

I love the new Rudy Christmas theme!  (If you're reading this post in your neighborhood, click off to my blog to see the new design I chose.)  Thanks to .tiff. for working her magic yet again!

For those of you who don't know, the chihuahua in this theme is Rudy, who belongs to my friend and coworker Steve.  Rudy comes to the office once or twice a month, and for the rest of the time I alternately miss him and beg Steve to bring him in more.  But now I get to see Rudy every day on my blog!

I can't get the song "Santa Baby" out of my head, except that it's now "Santa Rudy":

Buh-bum.. buh-bum...

And speaking of puppies, the SF/SPCA has a puppy cam from their Macy's window display.

I'm so excited about the new themes that were just added to Vox, but my favorites are the dog themes designed by the wonderfully talented Tiffany.

Check them out.  They're just so cute.

But what's really special about these themes is that they're patterned after several of our dear doggy friends who come to work at Six Apart with their owners. 

Maddy belongs to Ben and Mena, Mocha is Barak's, Shelby belongs to Winnie, and Jay took Stella in after Ginevra moved across the country.  To say that Six Apart is a dog-friendly workplace is an understatement;  many of us here are dog-obsessed.  Two of the above dogs have their own blogs, and they're all friends who hang out together. 

I think the coolest part of this collection of themes is how personal it is.  Tiffany created likenesses of these doggies with great care and attention to detail, down to Mocha's curls and silver eyebrows and Maddy's smirk and crooked ear.  And that's one of the best aspects of Vox -- it's personal.

Now I'm going to put in my request -- Tiffany will you make a Major theme?  He's part of the pack!
