Everything old is new again! I went to Amoeba this weekend to trade in a bunch of CDs I've accumulated from SFist and get some new ones. After hearing about it for months and months, I finally got Jose Gonzalez' Veneer.
Gonzalez does a nice job of melding sparse, hypnotic fingerpicking with mellow folk moodiness. Listen to "Crosses" from the album:
I also bought the new PJ Harvey and then yesterday I got a promo of it in the mail. @#%
Happy Lindsey Buckingham Solo Record Release Day everyone!
Selected things not to say to me about Sir Buckingham:
"Tusk was an amazing double album, if you only listen to the songs he wrote."
"Stevie Nicks would have been nothing without him."
"Yah, Stereogum is totally into him."
The genius known as Lindsey Buckingham is playing at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre on November 6th!! I am currently engaged in a flurry of activity to get the most out of his visit. Fingers crossed that his people think SFist is a Legitimate Media Outlet.
Go to his website for a preview from the new record.
