Go to one random page in Explore Audio. What CD do you see that you're most interested in listening to?
I'm interested in listening to Muse's new album, Black Holes and Revelations,
which was posted recently on pistolera.vox.com. I saw their bizarre
new video for "Knights of Cydonia" - it's very Flash Gordon in its retro fantasy look and
low-fi special effects (with an extra nod to Freddie Mercury through the dark moustache and sonic bombast).
Luckily I just got the promo in my mailbox yesterday!
What's one thing that you hope to do or accomplish before the end of this year?
One thing I will definitely do is read at least one book each month in 2006. Considering how much I love to read, this goal kind of depresses me. Think about it: 12 books a year, and maybe I'll live another 50 years if I'm lucky. That's only 600 books left to read before I die! If I want to read all the good books ever written, I'd better pick up the pace.
So far the goal has served me well, probably because it's specific and attainable. I've read up to three books each month and tagged them all "bookamonth" in this here blog, if anyone wants to read along with me.
Who is your favorite Muppet? Why?
I always was kind of fascinated by Janice when I was little, because she was so cool and could hang with the guys in the band. And she got to moonlight as a nurse.
Jay linked to a good performance by Janice and Zoot.
What's the one CD that will totally remind you of the Summer of 2006?
I have no idea yet, but it just might be Scanners' Violence is Golden.
Listen to "Raw" and try your best not to break out into dance. (Hurry and listen before I delete this!)
I said I'd love you and I'll love you to death
I said I'd want you till you breathe your last breath
I said I'd need you and my need is divine
Yeah like the lover who got stuck in his mindYeah like the twisted heart that's tortured and cold
So give me something cos I'm raw to the core
Who listens carefully but never be told
The pain and misery that love always brings
These are my favourite things
Scanners are sexy.
As if it isn't enough that I watch "So You Think You Can Dance," this performance actually made me weep.
