If you haven't watched last night's episode yet, skip this.

Interesting that they're promoting Ryan Starr's career already. I wonder if they have a piece of his profits.

I'm astonished at The Fall Of Dilana. Through the power of editing, she's gone from can-do-no-wrong to seriously embarrassing. I feel guilty admitting this, but I can't love her like I used to. And her style is so bad. Please get rid of the troll-doll dreads!

The chorus to Storm's original was pretty fantastic. The verses were weird and meandering but I totally was singing the what-the-what part. But she's never going to front Supernova.

Magni. He's nice. He's talented. I like him. But. No.

I don't know what to make of Lukas. I did like his original a lot. But he's so erratic! I think he's got a fear of success or something. He just doesn't always bring it like you know he can. I don't get that.

Toby is my new favorite. Sure, sometimes his voice sounds like a horn, but his energy is always on and I loved his original. Plus, check out his playlist on MSN. Jeff Buckley, Soundgarden, Faith No More, I knew I loved him.

so i haven't been watching, but last night i was channel surfing and stopped to watch and basically fell off my couch when i realized that storm is the same storm that tended bar at mad dog in the fog years ago when me and my housemates all had terrible crushes on her.

and if it's not the same storm, then the world is really fucking small.

I wasn't a fan of Storm's original, including the chorus. Her performance of it was pretty bad. She's way too in to trying to be impressive and showy.

I'm not at all surprised regarding Dilana. I've always thought she's just bad.

I've always like Magni, and I thought he was pretty good. I thought his answer to "why didn't you bring it up a notch for your original?" should have been "It doesn't matter what I'm singing... you're always getting all I have." That's what I would have said. And then I would have pointed out to Mr. Navarro that he was cooler when he was in Jane's Addiction. Much cooler.

I don't like Lukas. At all. Too emo. No talent. Doesn't seem to understand a thing about what he's singing. Bleh.

I never really paid much attention to Toby but his original song last night pretty much rocked.

Damn you and Ben for getting me in to a reality show! *shakes fist*

I'm sort of shocked at myself, but I think I'm most impressed with Toby right now as well. I've always liked Dilana a lot, and was just totally shocked by her terrible performances the last 2 episodes (starting with that rendition of "Psycho Killer", omg I hated that).

I always thought I hated Toby, & honestly I feel he's quite one-dimensional, but he's really, really good at songs in that one dimension. :)

i had the same experience as sippey. it is /that/ storm (sans her dirty mouth), although i had to check the innanet to make sure, because she was wearing a dress, lip gloss, singing evanesence, etc. looked nothing like she used to when hanging at paradise/transmission. although she's claiming portland as her home town? was that where she grew up before a stint in sf? or is that where she was based most recently before the show?

i know nothing about the mechanics of the show, but assume toby to be a shoe-in, given the judges.

so, help a brother out: what in hell was the big mistake that dilana made with the press? i found plenty of damn blogs talking about it without ever mentioning/referencing what was said.

Neil -- A few episodes ago they showed some footage of the "rockers" going through an interview drill. A couple of the interviewers prompted Dilana to dish some dirt, and she totally badmouthed her fellow contestants. They also showed that after Ryan Starr had had a great performance, she told him "you'd have been nothing without the backing band," which was just petty. Dilana was pretty much one of the top favorites for most of the season and then for some reason, they decided to edit this bad stuff in only a few episodes ago. *Cue conspiracy theory!*

Good 'ol M.Burnett has a piece of everything. One of the stipulations of being a contestant of the show is basically signing your rights away to Burnett Productions, including any original music of the contestant aired on TV (and more).
