Still Feeling Guilty

Only 10?!
Good gracious, woman, you are my hero!

Good luck on the next 15. You can do it! :)

Aw, thanks for the encouragement. :)
Don't be too down on yourself. I tend to read the same books over and over (if I like them). Also, I think its more important to enjoy yourself while you read rather than to plow through books trying to reach a number. A voracious reader like yourself should be able to get to 15.
If it makes you feel any better, I read 13 books in just under 3 weeks a couple of months ago. No, seriously, I did.

In an average year I think I read around 30 or so. I never really thought about it before. I read a lot. I walk in to Barnes & Noble and they greet me by my first name.
I think I've read about 34 so far this year, which is astounding to me. I haven't read this much since I was a teen. I'm not sure just why I have been able to read so much this year--aside from not having any kind of social life--but I think getting a lot books from the library kind of helps. Puts a time limit on getting through them all...
Thanks Picklez. :) I've reread a few favorites myself.
Um, you're not making me feel any less guilty Arie! You can make it up to me by recommending three books that might get me over my non-reading hump.
Holy mackerel, 34? I salute you. Do you track what you've read anywhere? I'm in dire need to recommendations to get me over my slump where I'm only reading magazines lately...
I've been keeping track of my reads since the begining of the year on LibraryThing...

The best book I've read so far this year was "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy--and that's one you can get through in a couple of hours...
I'll be happy to! What kinds of books do you like to read?
Generally I prefer fiction, historical fiction, memoirs. If I delve into non-fiction it's gotta be engaging and have a somewhat conversational tone or else I tune out...
Ooh thanks I'm going to check out your LibraryThings link. Did you see Oprah's interview with Cormac McCarthy? I enjoyed watching it.
Hmm... we don't overlap much. I read mostly Sci-Fi and Fantasy with some random smut (usually vampire novels, lately) thrown in for good measure.

My mom is just crazy about the Wideacre trilogy. It's sort of like historical fiction. They're by Philippa Gregory. It's not my usual style, but I'm liking them so far.

Hi Krissy...you don't know me, but I love your blog and I applaude your reading goals. 15 would impress me.

Good Luck

Cameron

Thanks Cameron!
I think you'll still be able to read a good number of books... Sometimes those dry reading periods come through, and there's really nothing you can do about it. =\ Either way, if you don't meet this goal, you can always make a new one. Plus, you'd have more drive to finish the reading list!
I am shocked by the stats you posted from the news story. I cannot imagine a world without books, life without reading.. If you want to get your reading tally jump-started, I recommend hanging out at the bookstore. Placing yourself in a target-rich environment may inspire you to find books that you just can't wait to read.

The weather has been nice this year. You'll read more when things cool down again.

Bonus: this reminded me that NoVoBloMo... whatever the heck that Novel Writing Month thing is is called... is coming up again! ah, here it is: NaNoWriMo - in November.
