I swear my neighborhood has the all-time most annoying ice cream man on the planet.  It isn't like it used to be when I was a kid...with the repetitive circus jingle.  The passage of time has resulted in a far worse kid-attraction method.  The repetitive circus jingle is still part of it, but every 15 seconds or so an annoying woman's voice shouts out, "Hello!"  It sounds like Fran Drescher in there.  I swear that voice makes me want to do things that are frowned upon by society.  Bad things.

This reminds me of a scene from the second season of Bones.  Here we go: 

BOOTH and BRENNAN are walking along the sidewalk.  BOOTH is on his cell phone trying to get information on the next case.  The ICE CREAM MAN drives down the street blaring his ice cream jingles.  BOOTH is having trouble hearing his phone conversation.  He's starting to get annoyed.

BOOTH: (To the ICE CREAM MAN) Enough with the song already, alright?

ICE CREAM MAN: (Defiant) I'm doing business here.  Deal with it!

BOOTH: (To the other person on the phone, frustrated) Oh, hold on.  I can't hear anything!

ICE CREAM MAN: The kids love the music.

BRENNAN: (To the ICE CREAM MAN) Well, I don't see any kids.

ICE CREAM MAN: The music attracts them!

BOOTH: Look, I can't hear anything because of this insane music!  (Takes gun from holster, turns to the ice cream truck, shoots three bullets into the clown atop the truck.  Ice cream jingle stops.  BOOTH reholsters his firearm and continues his cell phone conversation.)

ICE CREAM MAN: (shocked) You shot my clown!

ICE CREAM MAN: Hey!  He shot my clown!

I often post photos of Beth and Kathleen on my blog, but I've never had the pleasure of posting photos of my mum. <3 She is the reason for my being and is the source of all my creativity. She has taught me and pushed me in amazing new directions...

I took this photo of my mom this last weekend. She wanted some pretty photos taken of her around the house with all of her beautiful flowers and trees to give away to some special family members. (She's a fantastic and talented gardener.) I was happy to help her with this project, and I especially loved editing all of the photos. I'll try to post those at a later time. 

Mom, I'm sure you'll see this since you read my blog every now and then. When you do, just know that I love you!

Wow! Apparently, I skipped over April. April was great! We celebrated Elu's birthday. We ate at an all-you-can-eat Brazillian BBQ restaurant with a few close friends on the actual day of his birthday. Later that weekend, I threw him a surprised birthday party. In celebration of it being an Olympic year, the birthday party had a few Olympic-themed games... but not what you may think!  There were word finding games. Winners got gold, silver, and bronze "Elu" metals. I took a photograph of Andy raising a wine glass and created each "medal." We also competed in guitar hero and watched Run Fatboy Run.

We did so much in May. I went to Atlanta (May 4-8) to work an exhibit show. It was my first time away from Elu and the baby. Elu called me each morning and night to let me know how they were doing. I missed them terribly. But, the week finally was over, and I was glad to be home. While in Atlanta, as part of the social events with the conference, I visited the Georgia Aquarium and Coca-Cola Museum. I enjoyed them both. I think I was more giddy after seeing Coca-Cola Museum. Wonder if it had anything to do with the tasting....

We went to Rochester (May 15-18) to catch the end of the 110th Lilac Festival at Highland Park, a Rochester Red Wings game, the animals at the Seneca Park Zoo, and friends. It was a fun pack weekend, as always. The baby even got his picture taken with catcher Ryan Jorgensen.

We're going camping for Memorial Day weekend. It'll be the baby and my first time camping. It will be lots of fun. I hope the weather stays beautiful.

We've celebrated the stars of Entourage on this blog before, given their tendency to appear in WF gear, but we've tended to focus on star Adrian Grenier and his posse of hungry young players.  So kudos to L.A. Direct Magazine for spotlighting Rex Lee (who plays Lloyd, the neurotically devoted assistant to superagent Ari) in his Willie Hall Hollywood shirt.

Lee makes comedy magic in every scene he's in, investing his drama-queen amanuensis with real soul and sass and achieving moments of improv nirvana (and surprising tenderness, as in this scene) with Piven.  The assistant, perpetually eclipsed by the gaseous orbits and tragic novas of the stars, has never been foregrounded with such panache. 

Mr. Lee, Hollywood salutes you right back.

Salesmen at one Missouri car dealership aren't just kicking in a free CD player or factory air: They're offering a free handgun with every purchase.

Through the end of the month, car buyers at Max Motors in Butler will have a choice — $250 toward either a gun purchase or gasoline.

General manager Walter Moore said that so far, most buyers have chosen the gun, adding that he suggests they opt for a semiautomatic model "because it holds more rounds."

(In the fine print, the ad on the Web site explains, "Check written toward purchase price" and also mentions, "Approved Background Check REQUIRED!!")

Moore said he suspects his "Free Handgun" ad will draw protests in some places. But not in Butler, about 65 miles south of Kansas City.

Moore said, "Down here, we all believe in God, guts and guns."
